Saturday Things

So by now you must have realized that I’m in Florida for my sister’s wedding and that yeah, when I moved to NYC I left a ton of shit behind. Like a lot of books (300?), maybe 200 dvd’s, 50 or so records and player. Still considering how to bring all this back, if at all. I did pick out a few books that I want to read or re-visit.

  • The Rum Diary, Thompson: Quick breeze through so that when I see the film in a few days I can remember why I’m angry with Bruce Robinson.
  • An American Dream, Mailer: Started, while drunk years ago, but never finished for unspecified reasons.
  • Nine Stories, Salinger: Because I have no idea where I got this book and it’s got only one passage highlighted in pink in the entire book.

Went to my favorite beach today. It was empty and I just walked and watched a storm roll in and pass.

Also worth noting: that I drive ALL the time in NYC and I’m never worried about cops, but driving in small town, gulf coast FL I’m paranoid about getting pulled over. You can buy a 6-pack for under 6 bucks!!!, My family are indoor smokers and it’s the worst (I quit last year). Pick-up trucks EVERYWHERE

People ask if New York City is like how they see it on TV.
