40% of Aol's Revenue Still Comes From Dial-Up Subscriptions
Mr. Armstrong estimates that about 10 million to 12 million visitors to AOL sites are tied to its dial-up subscription business.
Every time I see articles related to AOL’s purchase of Tech Crunch I read those articles because I used to have AOL like in 1994. My SN was farfig9. Yes. These articles always mention Tim Armstrong, president of AOL. But because I’m old and when I read “Tim Armstrong” I can only think of Tim Armstrong, lead singer from Rancid heading AOL. To think of AOL being ran by the guy who wrote the lyric, “Secret to a good life, is knowing when you’re through,” makes sense.
In that context of those lyrics, AOL should take a cue. Their business model transition is something I don’t think they can pull off.
