We want to know each other, to see what’s happening in other people’s lives. We want, in short, to read each other’s stories. But that kind of world — one that values openness and honesty — can’t exist if half of its participants have to be constantly vigilant lest they be verbally assaulted, harassed, or worse.

Found this to be really interesting. It’s funny how this was something I’ve sort of thought about, in small ways before, but I could never have articulated it in this manner. So reading this was really cool, give me a lot to think about.
