Today, to celebrate the departure of Evi who’s leaving to go to law school, most of the management team drove upstate to Peekskill to canoe the Hudson and over to Bear Mountain State Park.
We started in Peekskill and canoed 3 miles upriver (against the tide) to Popolopen Creek where we tied off the boats and then got onto a portion of the Appalachian Trail for a 2 mile hike up what is basically large stone steps and loose scree. Kind of a tough climb but everyone made it! Then we hung around at the top and back down for a 3 mile return trip in the canoes.
What a day! New York state is really beautiful and it makes coming back to the city rather ugly.
I’m sad to see Evi go but I’m sure to see her in Vermont when I impose upon her hospitality in a few months time.
The outdoors are the coolest thing. This summer has been so great.
