Counting Crows — “Recovering The Satellites”
There’s something interesting about the lines, “gotta get back to basics, guess I’ll start it up again” when you’re laying on a couch next to the one you love, and you’re thinking; “Gee, I guess this is what starting a life is all about, n’ shit.”
So this is Friday, you know?

Counting Crows - Sullivan Street (Live From The 10 Spot)
Take the way home that leads back to Sullivan Street
I’m just another rider burned to the ground
I used to mis-hear these lyrics when I first started to love this song. I heard, “Where I am just another writer, burned to the ground.” It was subtle, but I was wrong. I still choose to hear it as “writer” instead of “rider”, in the context of a song about traveling, because it hits home for me. Also, Adam, mentions, “tumbling to the ground” in the lyrics. Relevant.

Counting Crows - Round Here (live, across a wire, VH1 storytellers)
I might end up just posting this whole album, it’s that good. This song is a whole different version from last night’s post of the same song.

What did I do today? Oh, just spend the day ripping about 30% of my cd’s onto my computer, then I threw away all of my cd’s. Can I let go of these physical items? I kept asking myself. Sure I can. So all of my things, are slowly going into the trash. What did I find? Lots of gems. Here’s the Counting Crows preforming a 10 minute long version of Round Here Live from the 10 spot. My my, I sure do love this band, this song, especially this version*. Also, I now have over 20gigs of legally purchased music on my computer. To me that’s a lot.
* seriously, the last 4 or 5 minutes of this song is really fucking intense. Imagine me, in a strange bathroom, this cd case in my hand, the cd on the player, me having just snorted 2 or so grams of cocaine, crouching in the bathtub… softly weeping, craving orange juice. Damn, I miss 2001-2002.
Counting Crows - Mrs. Potter’s Lullaby (live in 2000)
Here’s one of my very favorite Counting Crows songs. Posted now for Miss. HennyPotter.
Anna Begins, Counting Crows
She’s talking in her sleep/it’s keeping me awake/
And Anna begins to toss and turn/
And every word is nonsense but I understand it allToday’s iPod Song Shuffle Surprise.
Counting Crows are easily one of my all-time favorite bands. It’s hard to find a band who makes amazing records AND puts on amazing live shows. The live arrangement of this song blows me away, like most of their stuff.
