There’s a lot of versions of this song out there, from Waylon Jennings (which isn’t on itunes), Willie Nelson, and Danny O’Keefe, I choose this Elvis version. Seems fitting.

Elvis Presley - “If I Can Dream”

I posted this yesterday because the song fucking rocks, but last night it kept me up at night. I kept thinking about it and the show that it’s now fucking connected to.  A show about 5 young performers moving to hollywood, one of those 5 young assholes is Justin Gaston, Miley Cyrus’s ex-boyfriends. Which is really kind of ironic, because why would you have a show about people trying to “Make It” if you weren’t sure that they’d make it? One of them’s already achieved a measure of success as a model…

See this song was written about Martin Luther King, Jr. and takes a direct quote from him, recorded 2 months after his assassination.  Elvis sang this song like a gospel song, and here’s myspace, twitter, facebook, and hulu producing this show about 5 young assholes trying to “Make It” in hollywood when this show is already them making it. It’s a shame, to use a song like this, one with such emotional roots to promote another show about people making it… I hope Simon Fuller feels shame. But I doubt it.

The vocals here are so fucking raw. Totally the hotness. (you may have heard this song on a hulu commercial for a show* that’ll be airing on hulu only. Kinda weird)

*Creepy,  5 young performers move to hollywood to live in a house and have their lives filmed 24/7 (50 cameras). It’s like the Real World only you can watch them whenever you like.
