PENNY: Hello?
DESMOND: Penny?
PENNY: Desmond?
DESMOND: Penny…Penny, you answered. You answered, Penny.
[In London, Penelope is at home standing by a Christmas tree.]
PENNY: Des, where are you?
DESMOND: I’m…I’m, I’m on a boat. Um…I’ve been on an island, and — Oh my god, Penny. Is that really you?
PENNY: Yeah! Yes, it’s me!
DESMOND: You believe me? You still care about me?
PENNY: Des, I’ve been looking for you for the past three years. I know about the island. I’ve been researching—-[static]—-and then when I spoke to your friend Charlie, that’s when I knew you were still alive. That’s when I knew I wasn’t crazy. Des, are you still there!?
DESMOND: Yes, yes, I’m here! I’m still here, can you hear me?
PENNY: Yeah, yeah, that’s better.
DESMOND: I love you, Penny. I’ve always loved you. I’m so sorry. I love you.
PENNY: I love you too.
DESMOND: I don’t know where I am, but—
PENNY: I’ll find you, Des—
DESMOND: —I promise—
PENNY: —no matter what—
DESMOND: —I’ll come back to you—
PENNY: —I won’t give up—
BOTH: I promise. I love you.
[Static cuts them off.]
SAYID: I’m sorry. The power source went dead, it’s all we have.
[Desmond walks toward Sayid, his memory of him and his time on the island returning.]
DESMOND: Thank you, Sayid. [They shake hands] It was enough.
SAYID: Are you alright now?
DESMOND: Aye. I’m perfect.
SHUT UP, Kate! You self-righteous convict!
Me
Maybe I’ve been watching too much LOST, because I’m drinking whiskey and yelling at the TV.
Internal Existential Struggle
If my plane crash-lands and I’m in a LOST situation, would I be Jack or Sawyer? Maybe I’d be Kate, maybe.
But for damn sure I’d really WANT to be Desmond, but I know I could never be Desmond and that’s just plain devastating, realizing you’re not who you really want to be.

LOST Finale—The Reactions (by michael waskom)
Here’s my friends and I watching the LOST finale. It’s actually interesting to see the juxtaposition of the show to our reactions. The tears, the laughter, the understanding that if you live together, you won’t die alone.
If you don’t mind, give this a watch, it’s a tear-jerker at the end.
On Sunday
During the LOST finale I thought it would be fun to film my friends and I watching the LOST finale, all two and a half hours of it, just to see our reactions.
Today I spent the bulk of the morning editing that 2.5 hours down to about 7 minutes. It looks pretty good. I’m going to put some finishing touches on it, and put it on the ol’ vimeo. It should be interesting, I hope for us, and for others to see our freak-out reactions, our tears and shots of Dan Aykroyd vodka.
I always love doing creative stuff even if it’s awful, or even if I’m just going to throw it away later. I feel like it’s good for our souls to make something—and in the very least it’s a nice change from the day-to-day eat/work/eat/drink/sleep/repeat lives.
“Parting Words” - Michael Giacchino
As heard on Season 1, episode 25 (Exodus) of LOST.
